Privacy policy
Last updated: 22 October 2026
This privacy policy explains how I collect and use personal information when you visit www.hoolo.co.uk, contact me, book a call or use my web design services.
Who I am
I’m Adam Cutts, trading as hoolo, a UK-based independent web designer creating Squarespace websites for businesses.
I am the data controller responsible for the personal information described in this policy.
If you have any questions about this policy or would like to exercise your data protection rights, please email info@hoolo.co.uk.
Information I collect
The information I collect depends on how you interact with hoolo.
Enquiries and correspondence
When you complete my contact form or email me, I collect the information you provide. This may include your name, email address, business name, website address and details about your project.
Call bookings
When you book a call through Calendly, I receive booking information such as your name, email address, appointment time and any answers you provide to booking questions.
Client and billing information
If we work together, I collect information needed to manage your project and provide my services. This may include your contact details, project requirements, business information, correspondence, billing details and invoice and payment records.
Payments are arranged through Bonsai and its payment providers, rather than through this Squarespace website.
Website visitor information
Squarespace processes technical information, including your IP address and information about your browser, device and network, to deliver and protect this website.
Squarespace’s built-in analytics may also process information about your visit, such as pages viewed, referring websites and the time of your visit.
Please avoid including sensitive personal information in an enquiry unless it is necessary and we have agreed how it will be handled.
How and why I use your information
Under UK data protection law, I must have a lawful basis for using personal information.
Responding to enquiries and arranging calls
I use your contact details and enquiry or booking information to respond, discuss your requirements and arrange appointments.
Where you are considering a contract with me personally, this processing is necessary to take steps at your request before entering that contract. For other enquiries, including those made on behalf of a business, I rely on my legitimate interest in responding to potential clients and managing business relationships.
Providing web design services
I use relevant client and project information to prepare proposals, communicate with you and deliver agreed services.
Where you are personally a party to the contract, this is necessary to perform that contract. Where you represent a business client, I rely on my legitimate interest in delivering services to that business.
Managing invoices, payments and records
I use billing and transaction information to issue invoices, manage payments and maintain business records.
Depending on the activity, I rely on contractual necessity, my legitimate interest in administering my business, or a legal obligation to retain tax and accounting records.
Operating and improving the website
I use technical information to maintain a functioning, secure website, relying on my legitimate interest in protecting the website and its visitors.
Where optional analytics relies on your consent, you can choose whether to allow it through the cookie controls.
Where I rely on legitimate interests, I consider whether those interests are balanced against your rights and reasonable expectations.
Who handles your information
I use service providers to help operate hoolo, including:
Squarespace, which hosts this website and processes information submitted through its contact forms.
Calendly, which provides the separate booking page linked from this website.
Bonsai and its payment providers, which support client billing and payments.
Email and calendar providers, which support correspondence and appointment management.
Relevant information may also be shared with professional advisers, such as an accountant or legal adviser, or with authorities where required by law.
Service providers may process information on my behalf. They may also act as independent data controllers for certain activities, as explained in their own privacy information:
Cookies
Cookies are small files stored on your device when you visit a website.
This website uses Squarespace’s built-in cookie features. Necessary cookies support essential website functions and remember cookie preferences.
Squarespace’s analytics and performance cookies can help measure website activity, including visits, traffic sources and how visitors interact with pages.
You can accept or decline optional cookies through the cookie banner, or select “Manage cookies” to choose your preferences. You can also control cookies through your browser settings, although blocking some cookies may affect website functionality.
For information about Squarespace’s cookies, their purposes and durations, visit The cookies Squarespace uses.
When you follow a link to a separate service, such as Calendly, that service’s own cookie information applies.
Processing outside the UK
The services I use may store or process personal information outside the UK, including in the United States.
Where this involves a restricted international transfer, UK data protection law requires an appropriate transfer mechanism. Depending on the provider and transfer, this may include UK adequacy regulations or approved contractual safeguards, such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or UK Addendum.
You can contact info@hoolo.co.uk for information about the safeguards applicable to your personal information and how to obtain a copy where available.
How long I keep information
I keep personal information for as long as it is needed for the purpose for which it was collected.
For enquiries and bookings that do not lead to a project, I consider whether the enquiry has been resolved and whether further correspondence is reasonably expected.
For client information, I consider the duration of our working relationship, any agreed ongoing support, and whether records are needed to address questions or resolve disputes.
Financial records are retained for the period required by applicable tax and accounting rules.
Website information and cookies are subject to the relevant provider’s retention settings and cookie durations.
I review information and delete or anonymise it when it is no longer needed, unless there is a legal reason to retain it.
Keeping information secure
I use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal information against loss, misuse and unauthorised access.
However, no website, internet transmission or electronic storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.
Your choices and rights
Providing information through my contact form or booking page is voluntary. However, without the relevant details, I may be unable to respond, arrange a call or provide services.
Depending on the circumstances, you may have the right to:
Access the personal information I hold about you.
Have inaccurate information corrected.
Request deletion of your information.
Restrict how your information is used.
Receive certain information in a portable format.
Withdraw consent where processing relies on consent, without affecting the lawfulness of earlier processing.
Your right to object
You can object to processing based on legitimate interests for reasons relating to your particular situation. You have an absolute right to object to processing for direct marketing purposes.
To exercise your rights, email info@hoolo.co.uk. These rights are subject to applicable conditions and exceptions. I may need to confirm your identity before responding.
Complaints
If you are concerned about how I handle your personal information, you can contact me at info@hoolo.co.uk.
You also have the right to complain directly to the Information Commissioner’s Office, the UK’s data protection regulator. You do not have to contact me first.
Visit ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.
Changes to this policy
I may update this policy when my services, data handling practices or legal requirements change. The latest version will be published on this page with an updated date.
